So one of our cats decided it would be cool to butt her teeth against our laptop, the result a crack appeared in the top left corner of the screen.
I decided it was worth repairing and seemed like a relatively easy task.
You will need a Philips 000 size screwdriver and, something to pry at the laptop screen sides with.
Make sure you remove the battery for this procedure.
There are 4 (four) screw holding the bezel onto the front of the laptop, peel back the small protective covers and remove the screws.
Next pry around the sides of the screen and carefully separate the 2 pieces of the plastic. Use a plastic tool or you will ding up the sides of the laptop.
Under that there are only 6(six) more screws and the LCD is out, they are located on each side of the metal hinge device that holds the screen.
Next be extremely careful with this connector, it is fragile. Carefully pop the connector from the slot and remove the screen from the housing. I got my replacement screen from www.laptopscreen.com, fast efficient processing of my order and the selection of screens is very helpful even for someone with no experience.
Putting in the new screen was a breeze, (just reverse the directions) and it worked perfectly back to using our laptop for only $75.
I like your style of writing. You break it down nicely. Very informative post. Keep up the good work.
